Recognition for local restaurants

Eleven Welsh restaurants have been inducted into The Good Food Guide for 2010. The annual directory for the best restaurants in the UK. The new entries which include two from Swansea brings the total number in Welsh restaurants featured up to 85 in total.

Those making the grade for the first time include Darcy's in Mumbles and Maes-yr-Haf in Parkmill, Gower. These now join the likes of Fairyhill who have featured in the guide for many years. Fairyhill last year won the Which? Good Food Guide Welsh Restaurant of the Year.

The Bay View Thai Cuisine
What first struck me most about this new bar/restaurant was the service, especially as this was a Sunday afternoon and there was a child minder on hand to take care of our children. The food was excellent, authentic and fresh. We had the choice of eating in the more formal restaurant area, but chose the bar to be close to the kids. The childrens menu incuded chicken nuggets-thai style.

What the proprietors say: The Bay View Bar & Thai Dining is situated on the sweeping sands of Swansea Bay overlooking the scenic Mumbles light house. With a burning ambition to bring authentic Thai to Swansea, the new owners, Matt and Sam Nicol have created a haven for lovers of Thai cuisine. Together with award winning Head Chef,  their aim is simple - to bring quality home made, fresh authentic Thai cuisine to the people of Swansea.
