The Gower Heritage centre is based around a water powered cornmill originally built over 800 years ago by William de Breos, a Knight from Normandy in France. The Mill is one of the oldest 'Toll Mills' in Wales, so called because local farmers were compelled by law to bring their crops here for grinding. Over the last 15 years, since we took over a dilapidated
semi derelict group of buildings, we have renovated the 12th Century
corn mill into an award winning Educational and Tourism location. Situated
in the heart of the Gower Peninsula, Britain's first designated Area
of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Heritage Centre is today the focus
for independent visitors, travel groups and school parties, providing
an insight into the history and culture of Gower. |
