Welcome to the web site of Mumbles Tourist Information Centre
GOWER WALKING FESTIVAL
took place between Saturday 6th June and Sunday 21st June 2009
and was a great success, with over 1000 walkers from all over the UK and a few from as far away as Australia.
Make a note in your diaries for next year's festival
Saturday 5th June to Sunday 20th June 2010
This year we are asked all walkers to take a camera, because there was an exciting photo competetition to enter open to all walkers. Many sent us a digital image of their best photo taken on one of the walks. This was be entered into the competetition with the winning entry enlarged and printed on canvas by the judges Bartlett & Morgan of Newton Road, Mumbles. Cost to buy would normally be approx £120, so it was a prize well worth winning. Full details and conditions are available from the TIC, or by clicking here.
There was also the chance to pick up a certificate for completing all the "Round Gower" stages of the walk, last years successful walkers are shown below receiving their framed certificates from Walk Leader and Festival Organiser 2008, Roger Williams. Unfortunately there were no walkers who completed all 6 stages, so no certificates were awarded.

The new-look Mumbles Tourist Information Centre is open for business and is increasing its role in the community.
Since first opening in 1976, the service has moved around but now officials believe that they have found a permanent home. They have taken their place within Mumbles Methodist Church, which has undergone a £1.1 million revamp. And the operation has gone all-the-year-round after the decision to ditch the seasonal opening which has traditionally existed. It is hoped that the Centre, operated by a voluntary management team with financial support from the City & County of Swansea and Mumbles Community Council, will improve its profile and help attract more visitors out of season. First year results appear to justify that decision as it has received almost 60,000 visitors in the first 12 months of opening.
